Who is eligible for a grant?
For boiler grants as long as you receive a qualifying benefit AND you own your own home AND your boiler is over 5 years old you might be eligible for a boiler grant to replace your old boiler for a brand new one.
Besides your income, you will also be assessed on how energy-efficient your home currently is. The worse your carbon footprint, the more likely you are to receive a grant.
Who is eligible for a free boiler?
In addition to the criteria above, to qualify for an entirely free boiler, your household will likely be receiving benefits.
You’ll automatically qualify if you receive either Pension Credit or Child Tax Credits, and you may also satisfy the criteria if you receive any of the following benefits:
- Income Related Employment and Support Allowance
- Income Based Job Seekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Working Tax Credits
- Universal Credit
What’s included in the boiler grant?
If you are successful in your application for a boiler grant, you will receive a new boiler, which will be installed in your home. Please be aware that you may also need brand new heating controls to work alongside your new boiler.
If you do, then this will often be included in the grant, so you won’t usually have to pay any extra for this added luxury. However, in a small amount of cases a small contribution from you will be required.
